Whistleblower to reap $21M reward

Serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York & Nationwide

Several years ago, a senior financial analyst for a major healthcare plan provider in Florida grew suspicious about executives at the firm double-billing Medicare and Medicaid patients. So Sean Hellein secretly recorded conversations in which the billing practices were discussed. Then he brought the information to the government. Now Hellein’s honesty and courage will result in making him quite wealthy. He is slated to receive almost $21 million for triggering a federal investigation into the billing practices of WellCare Health Plans, according to The Tampa Bay Times. WellCare provides managed-care plans for 2.6 million people on Medicare and Medicaid. The news story said resolution of a number of civil suits against WellCare brings total recoveries to $217.5 million. Whistleblowers who bring a lawsuit under the federal False Claims Act are entitled to receive a percentage of the recovery. Learn more at www.attorneysforwhistleblowers.com
