Car fatalities down, but not motorcycle deaths

Serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York & Nationwide

Motorcycles, though fun to ride, continue to be a most dangerous mode of transportation. A report commissioned by the Governors Highway Safety Association has found that while overall highway accident deaths have been on the decline, the same is not true for motorcycle riders. Data for 2011 showed that motorcycle fatalities remained at about 4,500, roughly the same as 2011. In the meantime, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration projected a decline in overall vehicle fatalities of 1.7 percent for 2011 — reaching their lowest level since 1949. Some reasons that motorcycle fatalaties haven’t declined, according news reports quoting GHSA Chairman Troy Costales, were a lack of mandatory helmet laws in some states. Also cited were an improving economy creating more disposable income and high gas prices leading people to seek more fuel-efficient rides. Get information about motorcycle accident lawsuits.
