GM recalls millions of compact cars over ignition dangers

Serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York & Nationwide

A dangerous defect in ignition switches in General Motors compact cars has resulted in a recall of at least 2.6 million vehicles following the reported deaths of 13 people. The faulty ignition switches can cause the vehicles to suddenly switch out of the “run” position while the cars are being operated, which in turn can result in engines and electrical systems shutting off. That can affect the power steering, power brakes and airbags. Included in the recall are the Chevrolet Cobalt, Chevy HHR, Pontiac G5, Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Ion and Saturn Sky model years 2003-2011According to news media reports, GM knew about the defect for years and federal regulators and the Department of Justice are looking into why it took so long to address the issue.
