Philadelphia City Council hearing on fire escape regulations

Serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York & Nationwide

A Philadelphia City Council committee took testimony recently on mandating that landlords conduct regular inspections of fire escapes. The committee hearing followed the filing of a lawsuit by Kline & Specter, PC, against the owner and landlord of a Rittenhouse apartment building whose fire escape landing collapsed, killing one young man and injuring two women as they fell 40 feet to the ground. Testifying for Kline & Specter was attorney Dominic Guerrini, who urged Council members to adopt an International Fire Code requirement for inspections of fire escapes and balconies every five years by independent qualified professionals. Read the story on CBS Philadelphia
